PRESS RELEASE

CM VISITS PERSONS INJURED IN POLOGROUND BLAST

Imphal, February 7, 2019 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh visited the persons injured in a bomb blast which occurred near Pologround in Imphal West District at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital today.

Speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister strongly condemned the blast that inflicted injury to three Assam Rifles personnel and a civilian. He said that it was very unfortunate to trigger such a blast in a crowded area, where chances of injuring civilians were very high. He said that the State Police would study CCTV footages to nab the culprits.

Responding to a query, the Chief Minister said that State’s law and order is remarkably improving in the past few years and the number of such attacks has also declined considerably. Answering to another question regarding the grenade blast which occurred at Lamphel ahead of this year’s Republic Day celebration, the Chief Minister said that nobody was injured in the incident and it happened at a secluded place quite far away from the city area.

Shri N. Biren Singh said that the State Police Department would enhance co-ordination with security agencies including Assam Rifles to check such attacks in future.

MLAs Shri Y. Surchandra, Shri S. Bira, Shri Th. Satyabrata, DGP Shri L.M. Khaute and other high ranking police officers accompanied the Chief Minister.
