Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

The “North East Development Summit, 2017is an effort to showcase and explore the potential of North East India in establishing itself as a “land hub” of India’s Act East Policy.

 

I am delighted to know that in the past two days of this historic event in Imphal, 5 sessions focusing on areas of Trade and Investment, Connectivity and Infrastructure Development, Tourism Development in the Region, Skill Development, Capacity Building and Entrepreneurship were successfully held.

 

I thank the dignitaries and luminaries, who attended the Summit and made these sessions engaging andinspiring. I am certain thatthe positive outcomes from this Summit will transform the business and development environment of the North-East Region in general and Manipur in particular.

 

I am delighted to know that many MoUs are being signed in the areas of Healthcare, infrastructure, skill development etc. Some of the MoUssigned with the State departments are –

  1. MSTC Ltd. Kolkata to assist the Farmers & Farmers Organisations in the State to sell their produce through their E-marketing platform.
  2. M/s SIMS Hospital, Chennai for setting up of Health Sciences College.
  • M/s ROKO Cancer Charitable Trust;
  1. M/s ASACAINDIA, Gurgaon to promote primary Health Care;
  2. M/s APOLLO MEDSKILLS LTD. Chennai for Up-skilling courses for health care professionals.
  3. Manufacturers Association of ITfor Electronics Assembling and Hardware Industry in Manipur.
  • MoU between Visa Facilitation Service and Government of Manipur..
  • MoU between IIIT Manipur, Ugra University (Russia) and Government of Manipur.
  1. EUCAST Co. Ltd., Korea and Government of Manipur towards boosting ICT Industry.
  2. MOU between Local Entrepreneur in the area of IT Sector.
  3. MoU with Lao Association of Travel Agents (LATA), Lao P.D.R. for enhancing Cultural and Tourism Exchange.
  • MoUbetween the State Industries Department and Balisore Alloys Ltd;
  • MoU between Forest Department and NRL for supply of Bamboo.
  • MoU with the DPR Lao for plantation of Agar wood and Orchid.

 

This historic event marks the beginning of our commitment towards collectively building enduring partnerships to address the aspirations of its people by unlocking the full potential of the State. I am thankful to all the partners for placing their trust and confidence on the new government.

 

I once again assure everyone that the State will do all its efforts to ensure that your capital remains safe and productive.

           

            At the end, I once again would like to express my sincere thanks to Shri Ram Madhavji, Director, India Foundation and each and every one of his team members for having successfully organized this mega event for the first time in the State of Manipur.
